FII flows, valuations, earnings, global events, index movements and volatility can all influence what we see on our screens. And when markets become noisy, the natural question is:
“Should I change something in my portfolio?”

We recently came across an interesting conversation with Feroze Azeez, Joint CEO of Anand Rathi Wealth, covering many of these aspects.

What caught our attention wasn't a prediction about where the market is headed. It was the broader perspective around how investors should approach changing market conditions.

A few thoughts resonated with us:
Understand, don't automatically react.
Market movements have reasons. But understanding those reasons doesn't mean every movement requires action.

- Different investments have different roles.
A good portfolio isn't necessarily one that contains the current winners. It is one where the investments collectively align with your goals, time horizon and risk profile.

- Your financial goals matter more than the benchmark.
Nifty performance is useful for comparison, but your real question should be: “Is my portfolio doing what I need it to do?”

- Market noise shouldn't become your decision-maker.
The more closely we watch every market movement, the greater the temptation to react. Long-term investing often requires the discipline to stay focused on the bigger picture.

What we took away
We don't know where the market will be six months from now.
And perhaps we don't need to.
Markets will keep changing. Our financial goals usually don't change that quickly.

So instead of constantly asking:
“What is the market going to do next?” perhaps the better question is:
“What am I trying to achieve, and is my portfolio helping me get there?”

That is a question worth thinking about.
