This week brings together two beautiful reminders of discipline and reflection.

As Shravan comes to an end and Paryushan begins, we are reminded of values associated with Shiva and Mahavir — restraint, detachment, self-discipline and knowing what truly matters.

Interestingly, these lessons apply to money too.

We often think financial discipline means saving regularly, investing every month or earning better returns.
But perhaps it is also about knowing when to pause.

Shiva reminds us of detachment — not everything that comes our way needs to be held on to.

Mahavir's principle of aparigraha reminds us that accumulation without purpose can become a burden.

Think about our finances.
- Do we really need every new investment opportunity we come across?
- Do we keep investments simply because we have held them for years?
- Do we add more products without asking whether they actually have a purpose?
- And when was the last time we simply stopped and reviewed what we already have?

Building wealth is not always about accumulating more. Sometimes, it is about choosing consciously, letting go of what no longer serves a purpose, and knowing when enough is enough.

Perhaps that is a financial lesson worth reflecting on this week.

Some of the best lessons about managing money don't come from the markets at all.
